Q: How much dust will be created during the restoration of my floor?
A: There is no dust created during the restoration process, because we use diamond abrasives and water.
Q: Why won't the water spots on my marble or travertine clean up?
A: These are not water spots, but an etch mark in the surface of the stone. This is what happens when an acidic substance comes in contact with any calcium based stone. To get rid of the etch marks, the stone will need to be polished out, much like a gemstone would have to be if it were scratched. If the etched mark is not severe, sometimes it can be cleaned off with a little soap and water. If the etching is more severe, you will need to have it professionally serviced.
Q: Why don't you price every job by the square foot?
A: We have found it to be impossible to price every job by the square foot. The cost in some cases can only be determined by how long it will take to complete your job. For example, a small floor with borders and inlays can take longer than a simple floor 4 times the size.
Q: How often will I need to professionally service my stone?
A: As a general rule, you should have your stone professionally maintained at least once a year, but that also depends on your degree of traffic. Cleaning and sealing your floor will provide a longer lasting finish on your stone and will also help to prevent permanent stains. Diamond grinding (scratch & stain removal/restoration) is needed when you see visible flaws in your stone, such as etched stains, traffic pattern wear, scratches, or an uneven finish. In an average home, this restoration process is needed once every 3-5 years if properly maintained.
Q: Does Classic Marble Restoration, Inc. provide a maintenance plan once my stone is serviced?
A: Yes. A professional can visit your home periodically at your request to inspect your stone and help you determine what process, if any, is needed in order to maintain the beauty of your stone.
